Antonio McKinney hit a shot at the buzzer that propelled Windsor (16-11, 6-4) to a 63-61 GISA Region 1AA win over the Covenant Rams. Josh Brooks added 21 points. The Knights secured 3rd place for the Region 1AA tournament that starts Tuesday evening at Windsor. The Lady Knights (7-19, 1-9) lost another game in over-time 39-36 to the Lady Rams for 6th place in the upcoming tourney.
Senior Hannah Fisher was selected as Windsor’s 2014 PAGE STAR student. Hannah chose High School Science (Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry) teacher, Mrs Ashley Bentley, as her STAR teacher. To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the three-part SAT and be in the top 10% or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Congratulations!
Antonio McKinney led Windsor (15-11, 5-4) in a 67-56 GISA Region 1AA win over the Covenant Rams. The Lady Knights (7-18, 1-8) lost in over-time to the Lady Rams 39-36.
Antonio McKinney led Windsor (13-10, 3-4) with 21 points in a 51-48 GISA Region 1AA win over No 1 ranked Gatewood Gators (18-2, 6-1) . Austin Thomas had 10 points. Josh Brooks and Scott Albert added 8 points each. The Lady Knights (7-15, 1-6) lost to the Lady Gators 57-23. Megan Wall led all Lady Knights with 9 points.
Elizabeth Kay Powell Gilbert (Class of 1979) passed away on February 5, 2014 at a local hospital. She graduated with an associate degree from Middle Ga State College (Macon State). Kay was a member of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church where she was active in the life of the church. She was a volunteer in the Nursery Department and also volunteered with Central GA CARES and the Ronald McDonald House. At Windsor, Kay was a varsity cheerleader and won the Senior Superlative for School Spirit. She was a member of the Octagon and Pep Clubs and was a scorekeeper for the track and softball teams. Kay is survived by her husband, Ronnie K. Gilbert of Macon; two sons, Zachary T. Gilbert of Macon and Wesley Powell Gilbert of Macon and her parents, Julius (Bo) and Peggy Powell of Macon.
Austin Thomas led Windsor (12-9, 2-3) with 17 points in a 63-59 overtime loss to CFCA. Antonio McKinney and Josh Brooks added 13 and 11 points respectively. The Lady Knights (7-13, 1-4) also lost to the Lady Lancers.
