Lady Knights: GISA Region 4AA Fast-pitch Softball Champions!

 

The Windsor Lady Knights (12-5, 5-1) wrapped up the 2017 GISA Region 4-AA Fast-pitch Softball Crown with a 3-1 win over the Briarwood Lady Bucs (13-5, 4-2).

Windsor will get a 1st Seeding in the GISA AA State Softball Playoffs. Congrats to Head Coach Leighann Newberry, Coach Brittany Conley, Coach McKinney, and the Lady Knights!

2017 STAR STUDENT AND TEACHER: ETHAN HARPE AND ASHLEY BENTLEY

 Ethan Harpe of Windsor Academy was honored as one of Bibb County’s STAR Students, and he chose Mrs. Ashley Bentley as his STAR TEACHER. They were recognized at a banquet at Middle Georgia State University in Macon.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition program, an initiative of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, is mostly based on the highest two-part SAT score in a single sitting from a student at one of Bibb County’s public and private high schools. There also is a class-ranking requirement. Each school winner selected his or her STAR teacher. Congrats!

JACKSON, MANN SLAM LIONS FOR 2017 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

The No.1 Windsor Knights (29-1), led by Marquise Jackson with 25 points and Jai’kez Mann with 22 points, captured their second GISA ‘AA’ State Basketball Championship in the last three years by beating Furtah Prep by the score of 52-31 at Mercer University’s Hawkins Arena in Macon, GA.

Windsor stopped Solid Rock 66-48, slipped past Flint River 67-66 in overtime and beat Ga Christian 78-46 to move into the GISA ‘AA’ State Basketball Championship.

4AA REGION THREE-PEAT CHAMPS: WINDSOR 72, MDCHS 50 (BOYS)

The Windsor Knights (25-1, 10-0) beat Monsignor Donovan 72-50 in the GISA 4AA Region Championship. The Knights beat Piedmont 94-40 to get to the final. Windsor also beat the Briarwood Bucs 66-44 and Piedmont 93-35. The Knights ripped the TJ Jags 106-62 with Landry Rustin reaching 1,000 career points and 39 points in the GISA 4AA game. The team beat Mon Don 68-58, Twiggs 73-41, and Brentwood 87-28. They also slammed Piedmont 101-36 and Thomas Jefferson 86-26, overwhelmed Brentwood 75-32, Monsignor Donovan 78-48 and slammed Twiggs Academy 69-37. Jai’Kez Mann’s 27 points, Landry Rustin’s 22 points, and Carlos Sampson’s 20 points beat Citizens Christian 85-31. The team beat John Milledge 44-40 at Philips Arena in Atlanta. The team lost their first game 74-70 in overtime at Flint River. Marquise Jackson hit the 1,000 point milestone in his Windsor career. Windsor shocked Glenwood 56-55 and John Milledge 64-60 before that loss. The Knights also beat Crisp 62-51, Trinity Dublin 87-50, Southland 61-52 and previously undefeated Citizens Christian (3-1) by the score of 61-42 , the Covenant Rams 68-60 and the defending GISA ‘AAA’ State  Champion Gatewood Gators 67-57 in Eatonton.

The #3 Lady Knights (12-15, 5-5) beat the #4 Mon Don Lady Rams 51-35 in the consolation game at the GISA 4AA Region Tourney. They lost to TJ 60-55 and the #6 Briarwood Lady Bucs 55-37 in the tourney. They beat Briarwood in the season finale 49-42 and beat Piedmont 53-19. The Lady Knights lost to No. 2 TJ 54-43, lost to Brentwood 66-47, beat Twiggs 62-25, lost to Mon Don, slipped past Piedmont 39-31, lost to Thomas Jefferson 63-40, lost to Brentwood 63-36 but slipped past Monsignor Donovan 60-56 and beat Twiggs Academy 56-20. A’Maiya Jackson’s 14 points, Mosley’s 7 points, and Hulett’s 7 points beat Citizens Christian 54-26. The team lost to John Milledge 46-15, Flint River 39-37, Glenwood 63-36, John Milledge 61-28, Crisp 44-38, Trinity Dublin 61-29, Southland 51-47, but beat Citizens Christian 54-45 and the Covenant Lady Rams 53-34. The Lady Knights lost their season opener to the defending GISA ‘AAA’ State Champion Gatewood Lady Gators 57-23.
