Windsor Academy
Celebrating 40 years
Greetings from the Headmaster
Windsor Academy was established as a private, non-profit school in 1970. The administration,
Board of Directors, faculty, and staff would like to extend to you a warm and friendly welcome
to the Windsor Academy website. Here at Windsor we like to consider ourselves one happy
family. The school is relatively small and very family oriented.
I am proud to announce that our new computer lab is up and running in the elementary building.
Furthermore, we also installed new carpet in the high school locker hall.
Our family at Windsor Academy is looking forward to an outstanding 2011-2012 school year,
academically and athletically. At Windsor Academy, academics are the number one priority and
it is evident in its challenging and college preparatory curriculum. I am pleased to announce the
following staff changes for the new school year. We have added Rick Prady to the staff of our
Math Department. He has a BS degree in Mathematics and a BA degree in Business
Management. He is also certified to teach AP Mathematics and has a Gifted Endorsement. Mr.
Prady will be teaching Algebra I, Geometry, weightlifting, and will be an assistant coach in
football and wrestling. The new head boys’ basketball coach is Michael Johnson. He has BA
degree in General Studies Education from Brewton Parker College. He will be teaching Criminal
Justice, Personal Finance, and PE classes. Mr. Johnson will also be an assistant football coach.
Ms. Jessica Shepherd will replace Ms. Moody as our 2nd grade teacher. Ms. Moody’s husband
has been having some health problems so she decided to stay home and take care of him. Ms.
Carmella C. Griggers will be working on a part-time basis teaching Spanish I and II. Since Ms.
Shepherd is now our 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Dina McDonald has joined our staff and will be our
part-time media specialist.
Windsor students are given the opportunity to participate and be competitive in extracurricular
activities. The school has an array of sports teams. Windsor Academy had a great year in sports
in the 2010-2011 school year. Once again, the Windsor Academy football team made the playoffs.
The Windsor wrestling team won the A and AA state championship and was runner-up in
the A, AA, and AAA state Duals championship. In addition, the Windsor wrestling team had
four wrestlers to medal in the state championship in their respective weight classes.
We hope you will enjoy examining our website and will decide to join our family. If you should
have any questions or would like to set up a campus visit, please do not hesitate to call the
school.
Sincerely,
John C. Cranford, EdD
