Congratulations to the Windsor Shooting Team on placing 3rd in the state in the 2016 state finals this past weekend in Savannah. The team came in a solid third place with Gatewood shooting 838, Westwood 809, Windsor 801, and in 4th place Bulloch shooting 788. Also a BIG congratulations to Alexis Eidson, a Windsor 11th grader, on receiving Highest Overall honors out of 1,100 shooters in both divisions. Alexis received the following: Ladies State Trap Champion, Ladies State Sporting Clay Champion, Ladies State Skeet Champion, Ladies Overall State Champion, State Sporting Clay Champion, State Trap Champion, State Overall State Champion and All State Team honors. Kevin Bandt placed 2nd and Andrew Weiche placed 3rd in State Skeet.
Personal best included: Matthew Yearwood 97 in Skeet hitting his first 25 straight and his first 50 straight also 85 in Trap; Joseph McCary 85 in Skeet and 87 in Trap; Drake Byrd 87 in Skeet,75 in Trap, and 74 in Sporting Clays; Seth Blasingame 90 in Skeet and 81 in Trap; Bradley DeFore 93 in Skeet; Brayden Leslie 84 in Skeet; CJ Newberry 80 in Skeet; Sebastian Burnette came in 11th place shooting 42 in Skeet and 81 in Sporting Clays. Congrats to Head Coach Ricky Coleman!
No. 2 Windsor Knights (6-6, 1-2) ended their football season with a 42-18 loss to No. 1 Terrell Academy Eagles. Windsor knocked the No.3 First Presbyterian Christian Highlanders from the 2016 GISA ‘AA’ State Football playoffs by the score of 49-12 in Round 1. The Knights shocked Bethlehem Temple with a 43-12 win and knocked the Piedmont Cougars (2-8, 1-2) from the playoff picture.
The team lost to Flint River and to Piedmont in GISA 1AA Region games. The team also lost to Memorial Day of Savannah by the score of 54-14 but rolled to a 41-0 shutout of Georgia Christian for Homecoming 2016!
Despite 122 yards rushing by Jameson Lee and 75 yards by Marquise Jackson, Windsor lost to the Brentwood Eagles 38-20. Jonathan Osborn threw for 144 yards. Last week, Windsor stopped GISA ‘AAA’ Trinity Sharpsburg 54-21. Other scores:

Senior Marquise Jackson caught 1 pass for 48 yards and a touchdown and had 149 yards rushing and two touchdowns on five carries. Senior Tyler Christian caught 2 passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Jonathan Osborn rushed for 1 touchdown and passed for 203 yards. Sean Scott and Cooper Daniels also scored touchdowns.
WINDSOR 33, WESTWOOD 14 (FINAL)
Senior Marquise Jackson caught 10 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown and had 125 yards rushing and two touchdowns on nine carries.
Windsor Distinguished Graduate Nancy Grace (Class of 1977) will not take any time off. She ended her hit CNN/Headline News show on Thursday, Oct. 13. Nancy then made an appearance at Barnes & Noble in Macon to sign her new Hailey Dean mystery novel “Murder in the Courtroom.” Then on Sunday, Oct 23, the Hallmark movie “Murder, With Love” debuted and featured former “ER” and “Army Wives” Kellie Martin as Hailey Dean. – Defending 2014 and 2015 GISA ‘AA’ Fast-pitch Softball Champion Windsor Lady Knights (19-9, 3-3) captured their third straight GISA title by defeating the Brentwood Lady Eagles 6-1 and 7-1, after losing the first game 4-3. The Lady Knights reached the finals by beating the Piedmont Lady Cougars by the scores of 7-0 and 8-6. Congrats to Coach Newberry, Coach McKinney, Coach O’Quinn, and the 2016 State Champion Lady Knights!
The Lady Knights beat Robert Toombs 11-2 in the final Round 2 game of the 2016 GISA State ‘AA’ Fastpitch Softball Tourney to meet Piedmont.
Windsor boys and girls varsity basketball players will be playing John Milledge at Phillips Arena in Atlanta on Friday, December 30. John W. Welch, Headmaster, has taught, coached, and worked in administration in both private and public school systems. He has his BS and Masters in Education and Specialist certification in Administration. Mr. Welch is very happy to be our new headmaster and has many ideas to improve our school. His door is always open. Please stop by and see him if you have any questions or concerns or suggestions.
Robbie Kinard will be our new middle school science, Chemistry and Physical science teacher. He graduated from Georgia College and State University and also received his AP certification in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Georgia. Mr. Kinard has taught in both public and private school systems as well as coached and received awards in GISA soccer.
Joseph Embro will be teaching Spanish and French as well as middle school reading. Mr. Embro received his BA in English and French from Wofford College and his MA in French and Literature from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Embro has taught and coached football and wrestling at both private and public schools over the past 23 years.
Shanna Rowland will be teaching third grade. Mrs. Rowland graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College and State University and has her Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education from Fort Valley State University. Mrs. Rowland has taught in the Peach County school system as well as home schooled her own 5 children.
Barbara Brown will be our new middle school English teacher. Ms. Brown is coming to Windsor from Porter Elementary so many of our families already know her and are excited to have her at our school. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science (BS)-Grades 1-6/ Minor in English and Social Studies (University of Arkansas) and a Masters of Education (M.Ed) in Math and Science Grades 4-8 (Wesleyan College). Ms. Brown is very excited about all aspects of Windsor and getting to know the faculty and staff, but most of all to meet, teach and know the students!
-The #3 Diamond Knights (12-10, 4-4) returned to the GISA AA State Baseball Tourney Final Four with a 6-2 and 11-8 quarterfinal sweep of #1 Crisp Academy. Landry Rustin and Tyler Christian were the winning pitchers. Windsor opened the state tourney with a 2-0 and 13-3 sweep of #2 First Presbyterian Christian Academy (FPCA) in Hinesville.
The Knights closed the season with a loss to GISA AAA Westfield 18-0 but beat GICAA Covenant 10-6 at Luther Williams Field in Macon. The team won a GISA 4AA game over Briarwood by the score of 8-4. Windsor beat Monsignor Donovan in Athens by the score of 9-2. The team lost to Piedmont 6-2 after leading 2-1. However, Windsor overcame a four run deficit to stop the Flint River Wildcats 5-4. The Knights were stopped 5-1 by the Brentwood Eagles last week. Windsor beat Monsignor Donovan 8-3 but lost at Gatewood 10-0.
Behind the complete game pitching of Landry Rustin, the Diamond Knights whipped the Central Fellowship Christian Academy CFCA Lancers 11-3 with two triples by Josh Brooks. Reese Mimbs went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI and Jonathan Osborn went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The team lost to Piedmont 9-1, Flint River 15-14, Brentwood 4-1, and John Milledge 9-5. Jonathan Osborn hit a grad slam in a losing cause. Windsor beat the Briarwood Bucs 12-4 in the first Region 4AA game of the season. The team also beat Sherwood Christian 18-7 but lost 6-0 to CFCA and 16-6 to Westfield.
Windsor Cheerleader/Track Athlete Virginia Lee and Football/Basketball/Baseball Athlete Josh Brooks were selected as 2016 Scholar Athletes by the Macon Sports Hall of Fame. A banquet will be held on Thursday, May 5 at the Macon Centreplex. Congrats!
