KNIGHT TO REMEMBER: HOMECOMING 2016

Skye McKinney was selected as Windsor’s 2016 Homecoming Queen! 1st Runner-up was  Savannah Thorne and 2nd Runner-up was Marissa Gatto. Jonathan Osborn was chosen Top Knight!


WELCOME NEW HEADMASTER AND FACULTY MEMBERS

John W. Welch, Headmaster, has taught, coached, and worked in administration in both private and public school systems.  He has his BS and Masters in Education and Specialist certification in Administration.  Mr. Welch is very happy to be our new headmaster and has many ideas to improve our school.   His door is always open.  Please stop by and see him if you have any questions or concerns or suggestions.

Robbie Kinard will be our new middle school science, Chemistry and Physical science teacher. He graduated from Georgia College and State University and also received his AP certification in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Georgia.  Mr. Kinard has taught in both public and private school systems as well as coached and received awards in GISA soccer.

Joseph Embro will be teaching Spanish and French as well as middle school reading.  Mr. Embro received his BA in English and French from Wofford College and his MA in French and Literature from the University of Kentucky.  Mr. Embro has taught and coached football and wrestling at both private and public schools over the past 23 years.

Shanna Rowland will be teaching third grade.  Mrs. Rowland graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College and State University and has her Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education from Fort Valley State University. Mrs. Rowland has taught in the Peach County school system as well as home schooled her own 5 children.

Barbara Brown will be our new middle school English teacher.  Ms. Brown is coming to Windsor from Porter Elementary so many of our families already know her and are excited to have her at our school.  She graduated with a Bachelors of Science (BS)-Grades 1-6/ Minor in English and Social Studies (University of Arkansas) and a Masters of Education (M.Ed) in Math and Science Grades 4-8 (Wesleyan College). Ms. Brown is very excited about all aspects of Windsor and getting to know the faculty and staff, but most of all to meet, teach and know the students!

 


2016 GISA AA BASEBALL STATE: Windsor Offense Explodes at Crisp

-The #3 Diamond Knights (12-10, 4-4) returned to the GISA AA State Baseball Tourney Final Four with a 6-2 and 11-8 quarterfinal sweep of #1 Crisp Academy. Landry Rustin and Tyler Christian were the winning pitchers. Windsor opened the state tourney with a 2-0 and 13-3 sweep of #2 First Presbyterian Christian Academy (FPCA) in Hinesville.

The Knights closed the season with a loss to GISA AAA Westfield 18-0 but beat GICAA Covenant 10-6 at Luther Williams Field in Macon. The team won a GISA 4AA game over Briarwood by the score of 8-4. Windsor beat Monsignor Donovan in Athens by the score of 9-2. The team lost to Piedmont 6-2 after leading 2-1. However, Windsor overcame a four run deficit to stop the Flint River Wildcats 5-4. The Knights were stopped 5-1 by the Brentwood Eagles last week. Windsor beat Monsignor Donovan 8-3 but lost at Gatewood 10-0.

Behind the complete game pitching of Landry Rustin, the Diamond Knights whipped the Central Fellowship Christian Academy CFCA Lancers 11-3 with two triples by Josh Brooks. Reese Mimbs went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI and Jonathan Osborn went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The team lost to Piedmont 9-1, Flint River 15-14, Brentwood 4-1, and John Milledge 9-5. Jonathan Osborn hit a grad slam in a losing cause. Windsor beat the Briarwood Bucs 12-4 in the first Region 4AA game of the season. The team also beat Sherwood Christian 18-7 but lost 6-0 to CFCA and 16-6 to Westfield.


2016 Macon Sports Hall of Fame Scholar Athletes: Lee and Brooks

Windsor Cheerleader/Track Athlete Virginia Lee and Football/Basketball/Baseball Athlete Josh Brooks were selected as 2016 Scholar Athletes by the Macon Sports Hall of Fame. A banquet will be held on Thursday, May 5 at the Macon Centreplex. Congrats!

Jacksons and Rustin Receive All-Middle Georgia Basketball Honors

-Windsor’s Marquise Jackson (Junior), Landry Rustin (Junior) and A’Maiya Jackson (Freshman) made the honorable mention lists for The Telegraph’s All-Middle GA Basketball Teams Congrats!

Windsor’s Beta Club Outreach To Uganda

The Windsor Beta Club collected 77 pairs of jeans for www.Solehope.org.  They cut out fabric for 70 pairs of shoes and donated an additional 25 pairs of jeans.  The shoes will be sent to Uganda and distributed to children, many of whom have never owned shoes.  Thank you to those that donated to this project!

Windsor’s Jason Aldean Takes ACM Entertainer of the Year!

Windsor’s Jason Aldean (Class of 1995) received the top award of Entertainer of the Year at the 51st annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Male Vocalist of the Year went to Chris Stapleton. The ACM Awards were broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, Apr. 3, 2016.

Windsor: Jay’s Hats 4 Hope Top Private School

Windsor Academy was selected as the 2015-2016 Top Private School for the Jay’s Hats 4 Hope fundraiser. Congrats!


2016 Windsor ‘AA’ Basketball All-Stars: Jones and Brooks

Seniors William L.B. Jones and Josh Brooks represented Windsor at the 2016 Georgia Independent and South Carolina Independent School Associations All-Star game held at Augusta Prep. Michael Johnson was the Head Coach for the Georgia All-Stars. The GISA ‘AA’ team lost to the SCISA by the score of 100-86 with Jones scoring 12 points and Brooks scoring 2 points.
